nightingveil:

In the recent USA Today article, I know a lot of people got fixated on this section: ‘ “I’m trying to figure out what the universe wants me to do right now,” Way says, “and then when I figure that out, I’m just going to do it as hard as I can.” ’ due to the universe reference. When I first saw it, I laughed too, because of the Frank connection. It often seems that, whether intentional or otherwise, the “universe” gets mentioned in Gerard’s dialogue or on his twitter account.

But, I’d like to point out something else here:

‘When the announcement went out, Way felt a mix of emotion, sadness, anguish, pain and nostalgia, all at once.

“I was very upset,” he explains. “I said to myself, ‘Yeah, you’re supposed to be upset because doing the right thing is really hard.’ Anything easy usually isn’t the right thing — like to not communicate, to allow the band to become less than vital, to dislike each other, to let all that stuff happen without it being in your control, and the band either breaks up in an argument or they just wear out their welcome or then they start phoning it in and then no one really cares anymore.

“It was always really important to me that My Chemical Romance had a legacy,” the singer adds. “The message, while it’s still vital, is extremely important so to get that get tarnished or misinterpreted — even from within — and to see that in jeopardy made me know that this is the right time to do this.” ‘

“Anything easy usually isn’t the right thing — like to not communicate, to allow the band to become less than vital, to dislike each other, to let all that stuff happen without it being in your control, and the band either breaks up in an argument or they just wear out their welcome or then they start phoning it in and then no one really cares anymore.” ‘

I honestly don’t follow the logic here. At first, this post was supposed to be about how (presumably) this affirms they were still communicating, but then I realized I didn’t understand how -not doing so, could ever be easy. Particularly if it ends up being beyond your control, how is it easy? And, even if they ended up disliking one another for a time, still, how is that easy among men that have been friends this long? For that matter, who exactly is he talking about, when he mentions “no one really cares anymore”. Somehow, I can’t see that happening with all the members. And yes, I know maybe it couldn’t function properly without the base four as the foundation. It just struck me as a series of odd sentiments.
